Have you had enough of real estate? Are you completely disillusioned about the state of our economy? Well, you are not alone. In fact, it’s not just real estate that has us spinning on our own axis at dizzying speeds. It’s our collective attitude about the state of our country, and to a lesser degree, the world. The catch word of today is “confusion and uncertainty” instead of “carpe diem” during the Baroque in the 17th century Europe. No one wants to seize anything unless it’s a bagful of cash and a free trip to Hawaii.
Life is difficult. Life is nothing but a battle between dualities or dichotomies. Each side needs the other to survive, to exist. In fact, one without the other has no meaning, no reality. These days life seems to be getting grim for many good folks. Why it happens is not important because we don't seem to learn from our mistakes anyways. Besides the past of a second ago is just as gone, just as ancient, as the Trojan War! There is nothing you can ever do to bring the past back, no matter how persuasive or pious you may be. So, you might as well live for the moment in order to experience the intensity of existence and carry it forward to the future.
Our February meeting was a smashing success. More than 175 pairs of inquiring eyes and attentive ears hung on every word and picture being presented at the meeting. We have experienced exponential growth since August 2006, as our average attendance has more than doubled and our NCREI membership has grown by leaps and bounds. I’ve also noticed a tremendous surge in energy as well as a renewed hope in our affordable education system. Our new investment division, Select Capital Group, has now over 100 members and the buying power of over $20 million. Our goal is to have over 1000 members and the buying power of well over $250 million in two years! This means developers will comply with our investors’ needs and give them exactly what they ask for, more bang for the buck!
Your thoughts should not control you. Thoughts are things and you can create them or avoid them consciously. If you can learn to monitor and control your thinking, you can create that which you want to manifest in your daily lives. Increasing your awareness of your own thoughts will allow you to have that which you desire.
The leadership instinct you are born with is the backbone. You develop the funny bone and the wishbone that go with it.
- Elaine Agather
Leadership is not magnetic personality—that can just as well be a glib tongue. It is not "making friends and influencing people"—that is flattery. Leadership is lifting a person's vision to higher sights, the raising of a person's performance to a higher standard, the building of a personality beyond its normal limitations.
- Peter F. Drucker
A good leader inspires others with confidence in him; a great leader inspires them with confidence in themselves.
Leadership these days is confused by politics and politicians. Worse than this, most people seem to feel that if they are not a politician they must be, and can only be, a follower. Yes, of course, there are business leaders, religious leaders, etc., but with the help of the media and our education system most of us have been indoctrinated into thinking that normal people like us cannot be leaders in any way, shape, or form.
