Where do our thoughts come from?

Scientists say that an average person has about 60,000 thoughts per day. That is just remarkable! I wonder who has the time to count them. What is disconcerting is that 95% of our daily thoughts are the same as the ones we had yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that! New thoughts are few and far in between, only 5%!

So, where do these thoughts come from and do we have any control over them?

We have created a system of beliefs based the programming/conditioning that we’ve received as children. Your thoughts come from your belief system which tells your brain what to think. These beliefs can be about anything. From money to God, from spouse to religion, from work to success, etc. etc. Each belief is like a brick in a building that represents your entire belief system, good or bad, negative or positive, empowering or holding back.

Much of our Belief System as its acronym indicates is pure BS! Believe me when I tell you that you don't have any control over your thoughts. They come and go as they please because they take orders from your belief system and not you! They cause you to react to circumstances without any awareness or exhibit emotions about situations without any logical explanation.

Here's a question for you. Do you think your life will be any different if your thoughts remain the same day after day?

Maybe we should look at the definition of insanity again: Thinking the same thoughts every day and believing results will be any different. No wonder we have such an epidemic of insanity in the world today. No wonder lives are unfulfilled.

The key to improving your life is changing your thoughts, period. But since they are not under your direct control you must start with changing your beliefs first. You need to replace what's there with something else; something new and better that can propel your life forward not back.

How do we that? Wake up!

Socrates said an unexamined life is not worth living. First, examine your life so you can find out what thoughts are destructive. You could then change those beliefs that are responsible for generating disempowering thoughts that are making your life far less than the masterpiece it was meant to be.

There are various methods to achieve this goal but each requires your recognition, action and maintenance. But, it is doable and it is the only way to repair the damage done and restore our sanity.
