The Life That's Waiting For You

Often people are so stuck in a rut and so concerned with the immediate survival needs that they never stop to think about their true calling in life. No wonder in our culture more people have heart attacks on Monday mornings at 9am than any other time!
As the late Mr. Campbell so eloquently stated, you will not be able to find the life you meant to have so long as you stick like glue to the one you've planned for yourself. Clearly, if you're totally happy with your current situation there's no need to try anything different. But it seems that more than 80% of people keep doing what they resent and yet year after year they keep doing the same thing. In essence, as Henry David Thoreau once said, "most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them." I do not really believe anyone would like this option, but it seems most aren't even trying to change it, knowing well that the only constant in life is change. But last I checked no one likes change except a wet baby!
We often forget that life is a risky venture and that it offers us no security of any kind. It's like this: We're alive and well one second and maybe very sick and dying the next. We're rich one day and broke the next and so on. We insist on staying in our comfort zone and avoiding any risk lest we lose something of value.
